The Tobacco warehouse was a fire remediation project, removing the existing cladding,
existing supporting structure and insulations due to products preventing the properties
from achieving EWS1 certification.
As a subcontractor to this project we completed all the construction issue drawings, fire
strategies, health and safety documentation and Quality Assurance documentation.
Scope of works:
The courtyard was completely enclosed meaning that the only access for materials in and
out was via a tower crane. All the waste material and new materials had to be lifted over
the top of the roof and positioned on the outside of the building line. This was challenging
due to the weather on Liverpool docks. What looks like the floor is actually a roof meaning it
was difficult to load with waste and new materials due to weight constraints.
Conclusion:
Even though the job was challenging from a logistical point of view, and labour intensive due
to the small loads to and from the courtyard via the crane, we still managed to hit
programme dates and get an EWS1 sign off for the client to sell the properties on time.
